Who is responsible

The controller under the GDPR and the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK) is Özgün Mert Şahin, a private individual. You can reach me at contact@ozgunmertsahindev.dev.

Hosting and server logs

This website is hosted by Vercel Inc. (USA). When you open a page, Vercel's servers automatically process technical data that your browser sends, such as your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page and your browser and operating system. This is necessary to deliver the website and to keep it secure.

The legal basis is my legitimate interest in running a secure, working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The logs are kept by Vercel for a limited period under its own retention rules; I do not use them to identify visitors.

Contact form and email

If you use the contact form, I receive your name, email address, subject and message. They are sent through the email service Resend (USA) and delivered to my Gmail inbox (Google). Your email address is used only to reply to you. If you email me directly, I receive the same kind of data from your email.

The legal basis is your request and taking steps you asked for, for example about an internship or a project (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), and otherwise my legitimate interest in answering messages (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

I keep messages until you ask me to delete them. Write to the address above and I will delete your message and my reply.

Transfers outside the EU

Vercel, Resend and Google may process data in the USA. Such transfers rely on the safeguards these providers offer, such as certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

No cookies, no tracking

This website does not set cookies and does not use analytics, advertising or social-media tracking. Fonts are served from this website itself, so no request goes to Google Fonts.

If you switch between the light and dark theme, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage on your device only. It is never sent to me, and you can delete it at any time in your browser settings.

Links to other websites

This website links to my profiles on LinkedIn, GitHub and Medium. Once you follow such a link, the privacy policy of that service applies.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• access the personal data I hold about you (Art. 15)
• have it corrected (Art. 16) or deleted (Art. 17)
• restrict its processing (Art. 18) and receive it in a portable format (Art. 20)
• object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21)
• lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, for example the Baden-Württemberg Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (LfDI BW)

Rights under KVKK (Turkey)

If you are in Turkey, Article 11 of KVKK gives you similar rights: to learn whether your data is processed, to request information about it, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object. You can also complain to the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK Kurumu).
